I remember one time during the making of Minutes to Midnight, we were in this phase of writing this super super heavy music [‘QWERTY’]. Just one crushing, guitar monster song after another and I was like ‘augh dude this will be the fucking heaviest Linkin Park record ever made man’ and I was telling people about it like ‘Dude I can’t wait IT’S GONNA BE INSANE!” So, I was doing an interview at the time about what was going on in the studio and I told them ‘this is going to be the heaviest fucking Linkin Park record…EVER.’
…Then we finished Minutes to Midnight and we ended up picking all these other songs regardless of their style and it turned out being like.. the Opposite. of heavy…” -sad voice- “..And I was like ‘I’m never going to ever say anything about the fuckin records again because… I’m a jackass.’
